Cultured Pearls Pair Button Half Drilled 6-6.5mm, Cream, Freshwater
Sold in Pairs.
Pearl is an organic material, formed when an irritant enters a mollusk shell.
Layers of 'nacre', which the mollusk's shell is also made from known as 'mother of pearl', forms around this irritant, over time creating a pearl. Its characteristic iridescent surface sheen is due to these overlapping layers.
These pearls are cultured freshwater pearls, meaning an irritant has been purposely added to the mollusk to start the natural formation process.
These pair of button shaped cultured freshwater pearls measure approximately 6mm - 6.5mm in diameter. They come in a creamy white shade and are supplied half drilled.
Pearl has a hardness of 2.5 - 4.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.60 to 2.85.
Please note that due to the nature of the material, each pearl is unique so colour, shape and size may vary slightly.
Purchase with pearl cups to create pearl stud earings.
