I love the idea of secrets within jewellery, of incorporating something known only to the wearer.  Often the pieces I make reveal more of themselves the closer you look, so what you see at first glance is not the whole story. This discovery makes you smile, there's a child-like delight in finding something you know others haven't noticed or will never know about."

Designer, musician, artist... all nouns that describe Joana.  More important are the adjectives - dedicated, passionate, whimsical, creative, talented and energetic - since they color everything she does.  Organizing the space around her into something lovelier, Joana strives to leave the world a slightly better place.

I have been making jewelry since 1997 focusing on Metal Clay, fused glass, and wire work. I teach Metal Clay classes in the San Francisco area and at national shows.  I now work with Argentium and Metal Clay, combining them to form rings: using the strength of Artgentium for the ring band and the flexibility of Metal Clay to design the focal piece.

I am on the Rio Grande Tech Support team.  Back in 2005 I found a sheet of 26 gauge Argentium in the closet that nobody else wanted to play with, so I took it home and have been an avid fan of it ever since.  I do a lot of the real-scenario testing of Argentium sheet and wire here at Rio Grande.

"Chain maille is an art form that has come full circle from protective armor for knights and warriors to beautiful jewelry designs for contemporary men and women.  I am fascinated with and inspired by the juxtaposition of historic patterns and designs with modern materials like Argentium."

Inspired by her travels around the world, and the ancient cultures of the Mediterranean, Latin America and Europe, Keren's jewelry designs are delightfully intricate.  Her favorite technique is Macrame knotting with wire incorporating gem stones which results in ethereal and romantic pieces of jewelry.

I am inspired by nature and drawn to graceful, cascading forms.  I cut my designs from sheets of Argentium silver and fine-tune with a coping saw and hand files.  I texture the surface, hand-engrave or carve designs and motifs, form the metal with nylon mallet on stakes, sculpt with jewelry pliers, and give each piece a satin or shiny luster, whose every angle reflects light.  When my jewelry makes people smile, my heart sings.

Since studying Argentium silver with Ronda Coryell at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts and at Mendocino Art Center, I have been developing ways to make fused and granulated wire filigree.  Argentium is a delightful material for fine detail, and seems to almost form itself into organic shapes.  I also enjoy painting Byzantine-style icons, using gold leaf and handmade egg tempera paint.
